Hours Keeper: Time Tracker App Reviews

The removal of a visual icon that tells you a clock is active is a serious oversight from the app developer. They have forgotten that the app is used on a phone that, o course, is used for at least phone calls too! As soon as the app window closes there are no visual reminders (like the red dot on the app icon) telling you that there is a clock actively counting time. Other minor changes have meant that the app now requires quite a bit more clicking. It’s a shame because they’ve taken a great app and made in “just okay" at best! I did contact the app developer who said an update would address this. Update happened but it did nothing to address these points.

Nice user interface, but improvements are needed: (1) widget needs a "clock out" tab; (2) invoices should take rate/billing changes into account and should not automatically reflect "paid" status; and (3) removing "paid" status from time entries should not require opening, changing, and saving each entry, ie, users should be able to mark multiple entries as "paid" or "unpaid" at once. EDIT: App does account for changes from the time of the change forward, but not for previous entries, which have to be changed manually. Not necessarily a bad thing there, but the ability to change multiple entries simultaneously would be nice. Added two stars to my review. The invoices are spectacular. I will be purchasing the full version soon. EDIT: App does not mark invoices with outstanding balances as "paid" until an amount tendered has been entered. I didnt fully understand the proper use at the time of my initial review. So...Id like the ability to edit multiple entries at once and a "clock out" tab for the widget. More of a feature request than a complaint. Added the fifth star! EDIT: New interface is clean and intuitive. I hope the widget, which is phenomenal, never changes. There should be simple, workable backup solution and iCloud synchronization. Not having the latter is almost criminal at this point. Lets get that going, devs. 3.5 stars.

Really great. The more I use it the better I like it. Going on my 2nd year with it. Would like to see a daily expenses field rather then just at invoice time.

Ive been using this app for over 2 years and have always been pleased with it. I really dont like the new updates. I dont care for the new layout, menu system or fonts. Its much harder to navigate. The orange font is so difficult to read. Its harder to find my active clock. All around its more difficult to use. Im a creature of habit and fiercely loyal, but I am going to start looking for a new app for time tracking because its become cumbersome to use.

Easy to clock in and out. I had no idea how much time I was working for free just not counting it. Can keep accurate track of my lunch time and still come out ahead. More than pays for itself.

I hate when developers do this. I tried out the free version and liked it so I paid for the full version. Then they completely change it to highlight its weaknesses and remove its functionality. It requires so many more clicks and navigation to get around it is just inefficient and painful to use. They also removed the badge functionality that let you know at a glance if you were clocked in or not. Now you have to open the app and root around in the bloated, over-designed interface to find the tiny indicator. I really regret paying for this app. If I knew this was where it was headed I would have gone elsewhere. Please put it back.

I am very angry! I used this app for over a year and used it not only to log my hours and breaks, but mainly to track my hours to I dont hit overtime as I get penalized for doing so. With the new update, this app got a new user interface, all the buttons were moved around, but it was completely downgraded and many features were removed including the ability to track time and days. Now app only shows the date. Very disappointed!

App works for what it is designed to do, however, after creating 2 invoices I was required to upgrade for $7 in order to continue to generate and send invoices.

It gave me more options before, I had more control; and what is with this clock in and out at the same time?? Also all of my old invoices are showing as unpaid and OMG so many problems Im afraid to use it.

Trialed this initially in fear that --like the other apps I had tried-this one would fall short of the simple logging tasks I require for my business tracking. The entries are easy although I usually manually add the entry manually. Why I love most is the invoice feature and the ability to manage all of my clients.

Went from being the easiest to use, feature rich app, to a stripped down jumbled mess. The UI is terrible. Fonts and text size make everything harder to read. Was this even tested before release?

Used this app for quite some time. New update changes the simple layout making it difficult to clock in and out. Now prioritizes the old entries. Poor poor update. Actively searching for a replacement. The newest update just fixed the clock in/out function that is crammed at the bottom of a atrocious screen design. Cant believe how badly this redesign ruined at great app. Wishing I could take away my one star.

This is a functional time tracker with basic features (including adjusting time if you forget to clock in/out). Up until the latest update it was at least four stars, maybe five. The latest update took a dated-looking interface and made it really gorgeous! And...harder to use. Just to clock in to a client, which used to be two taps, now takes four (because when you have no clients active it still starts you in the new active-client tab). Getting to a report now takes an extra tap. The new menu is "sleeker" and "better" by modern user interface standards, but less useful. I tried to use the feedback function to point this out, but the email it created *bounced*. So we can only hope theyre reading their reviews and fix it.

I used to have the free version of this app a few years ago when I only had 2 clients but it was so great I just had to buy the pro version and it was more than worth it! The latest update has only made it better. My only "complaint" would be to be able to use a weekly rate. Some clients pay hourly and some weekly, but it could be operator error though

Ive been using it for a few months and it works great to track my appointments. I can track how much i will get paid and mark each appointments as paid. I only gave it 4 stars because I would love to see a way to add mileage expense to each appointment and maybe also an option to have a minimum of 1hr regardless of the min used. Besides that it works good. Its a bit expensive but worth it.

I really liked this app and used it every day I worked. But with the new update, I think it is terrible. The font is weird. There isnt a way to clock in and out. I cant find things that the app has before. Disappointed.

Thank you for adding the clock in at/clock out at feature. Still really dont like the new UI, but at least its useable again now.

To amend my previous rating, even after trying to fix what they broke and bringing back the "Clock in/out at feature", I still really dislike the layout. Im done and moving on to something thats functional. I liked this app just fine, then, they upgraded it. Now its terrible and somewhat useless. I dont recommend this at all. One star is too much.
